we have guilt, we have fault, we are ungovernable

Even the blossoming flowers [Colors are fragrant, but they]
will eventually scatter
Who in our world
is unchanging?
The deep mountains of karma--
we cross them today
and we shall not have superficial dreams
nor be deluded.

Progress on the website is ok. I've found a few tools to build 3D environments, and I've gotten carried away doing that.

Insects do all that we fear. They touch us gently when we do not want to be touched. We see in them little more than mere (and ancient) machines. They sting us. They follow the light without wondering or knowing why; the light that they follow is false, electric, and traps them. (And that light is the light that we use at night to defy the night, and nature, and the sun, and god.) They are quiet. We cannot trace their gaze. They are, it seems, joyless plants: life’s first attempt to grow for itself a soul.

1/4/2018 | cyanobacteria, light, life

In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless void and darkness covered the face of the deep, while a wind from God swept over the face of the waters. Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.

When I showed this to my students, they were shocked at the thought of an Earth without oxygen. Such a thing would mean an Earth without people -- an Earth before people. But, yes: we can breathe now because prehistoric faceless goo learned to eat sunlight.
