Search Terms are tools that you can use to enhance your searches when using a web browser.
Use DuckDuckGo.com as your web browser, since it is fast and doesn't have ads.
Use the list below for using helpful search terms:
Finding a Website with an Exact Phrase
If you want to find a web page with an exact phrase written on the page, then put quotation marks around the phrase.
Example: If you search "Ancient Mesopotamia", you will find pages with the words Ancient Mesopotamia written somewhere on them.
Be careful: if you search a phrase that is too specific, you probably won't find any web pages.
Excluding a Word from your Search
If you want to find websites that do NOT have a specific word, put a subtraction sign in front of the word.
Example: If you search Ancient Mesopotamia -Egypt, then you will find pages about Ancient Mesopotamia that do not mention Egypt as much.
Looking for a Specific Word in your Search
If you want to find more websites with a specific word in them, put an addition sign in front of the word.
Example: If you search Ancient Mesopotamia +Sumer, then you will find more web pages that specifically mention Sumer.
